Where is water-based ink mostly used in?
There are no water-based inks used for inkjet printing. In silk screen printing, they are mainly used. Each type has its own uses, just as other types of ink and colors do. The same is true with other types of ink and colors.
There are a variety of types of non-solvent-based inks that are known as water-based inks. These inks are also commonly used in screen printing.
- Contact printing
- Matte inks
Lacquer water-based inks are historically used in screen printing. There are different kinds of lacquers, but any ink that is water-based but not clear is a lacquer.
Lacquer is one of the most popular screen printing inks, along with matte and emulsion. Ink of this type is commonly used for logos and other graphics due to its opaque nature.
Some brands like to print special effects or different color schemes on solid surfaces, which would require lacquer or another similar ink.
There is a much lower amount of solvent needed to make non-solvent-based inks than conventional solvent-based inks. Because they are not mixed up with a chemical, they are mostly environmentally friendly and less expensive in cost.
Typical uses:
Water-based inks cannot be used for inkjet printing. Silk screen printing is the most common application for them. Like other types of ink and colors, they have specific uses.
On dark and light-colored shirts and light-colored plastic surfaces, lacquer water-based inks are commonly used. In this way, the printer is able to produce a product with the right colors and a bright final result. It can also be used on water-based and oil-based surfaces, such as glass and metal.
The ink can be used with a wide range of screens; some inks are specifically formulated for use with halftone screens. The ink dries quickly and can be easily removed from the screen.
The inks are less bright than traditional inks, so they are better suited for dark-colored garments and other substrates.
Furthermore, water-based inks work best when the mesh count is above 180. They are tend to be more expensive than solvent inks, but they are also more environmentally friendly and safer to use.
